531+ tools, five methods

How every calculator works

The whole library runs on a handful of methods. This page sets out what each one does with your input, how the number systems behind them differ, and which tool to reach for depending on the question you arrived with.

Tools that read your birth date

Every date based tool starts the same way. The month, the day and the four digit year are each reduced to a single digit on their own, then those three results are added and reduced once more. The reduction stops if it lands on 11, 22 or 33, because those are treated as master numbers rather than a step on the way to 2, 4 or 6.

The life path number is the headline result of that method. Personal year, personal month and personal day numbers use the same reduction but swap the birth year for the current one, which is why they change on a schedule rather than staying fixed for life. Birthday numbers skip the addition entirely and simply take the day of the month you were born, from 1 to 31.

The reason we reduce each part separately is that adding the whole date as one long string can hide a master number. A date that reduces to 11 through the separate method can flatten to 2 through the string method, and that is where most disagreements between sites come from.

Tools that read your name

Name based tools convert letters to numbers using a letter chart, add the values and reduce the total the same way a date is reduced. Which letters are counted is what separates the three main name readings from each other.

The expression number uses every letter of the full birth name and describes the abilities you work with. The soul urge number uses only the vowels and describes what you want when nobody is watching. The personality number uses only the consonants and describes the impression people form before they know you. Run all three and you get the same name read from three angles rather than three unrelated results.

Y is the awkward letter. We count it as a vowel when it carries the vowel sound in a name, as in Lynn or Bryn, and as a consonant when it sits next to another vowel, as in Maya. The result page shows which way it was counted so you can rerun it the other way if your tradition differs.

Compatibility and pairing tools

Compatibility tools run the core method twice, once for each person, then compare the two results against a table of pairings. Numerology compatibility compares life paths and expression numbers. Zodiac compatibility compares sun signs by element and modality, which is why fire and air pairings read differently from earth and water ones.

Treat these as descriptions of pace and friction rather than a verdict. Two numbers that clash on paper describe a relationship that takes more translation between two people, not one that is doomed. The reading is most useful when both people run their own chart first and then read the pairing.

Tools that use real astronomy

Sun sign, moon phase and lunar calendar tools do not use numerology at all. They calculate a position or a phase from the date you enter and return the answer that matches the sky. Sun signs come from the date ranges of the tropical zodiac, so a birthday on a boundary day is resolved by the exact cutoff rather than by rounding.

Moon tools work out the phase and illumination for a date from the lunar cycle, which is why the moon phase on your birthday is a fixed fact rather than an interpretation. The reading attached to that phase is the interpretive part, and it is kept separate on the page from the number itself.

Symbolic and drawing tools

Spirit animal, soulmate, lucky number and yes or no style tools follow a traditional rule rather than a formula with a checkable answer. They take your input, apply a fixed mapping so the same input always returns the same result, and read the outcome through the symbolism attached to it.

These are consistent rather than provable. The same name and date will always return the same spirit animal here, but no outside source can confirm that answer is the single correct one. Each of these pages says so directly, and the ranked list marks them as interpretive so you know which column you are standing in.

Comparing the number systems

Numerology is not one system. The letter chart you use changes the answer, which is why two sites can both be right and still disagree. The table below sets the main systems side by side, with the astrology equivalent underneath, since the same split exists there between tropical and sidereal signs.

SystemHow it mapsWhat it is good atUse it for
PythagoreanA to I map to 1 to 9, then the pattern repeatsThe modern Western standard, used for the core chart hereLife path, expression, soul urge, personality and every date based cycle

Unless a page says otherwise, every calculator here uses Pythagorean numerology and the tropical zodiac, because those are the systems the surrounding readings were written for. Where a second system genuinely adds something, the tool shows both values rather than making you pick blind. The name analyzer is the clearest example: one name, two charts, side by side.

A system is a lens, not a ranking. Pick the one that matches the question, stay in it for the whole reading, and note which one you used so you can repeat the exercise later and compare like with like.

Which tool for which question

Most people arrive with one question rather than a wish to run five hundred tools. Find the closest match below and start there.

I want to understand myself

Pythagorean life path first, then expression and soul urge. Those three cover direction, ability and motive, and every other reading is interpreted against them.

Start with the life path

I am naming a business or a brand

Run the name analyzer, which scores the name in Pythagorean and shows the Chaldean value beside it. Chaldean is the older system for names people say out loud.

I want to know about timing

Personal year, month and day. They use your birth month and day with the current date, so they answer when rather than what.

Work out the personal year

I am asking about another person

Numerology compatibility for the pace of the relationship, zodiac compatibility for the temperament. Run both people's own charts first.

I want everything in one document

The full chart calculator runs the core numbers together and the report generator turns them into a multi page PDF with the written interpretation attached.

Every category in the library

The library is grouped by subject rather than by method, so a single topic page holds tools that use different calculations. Each archive explains the method again in its own context.

If you would rather see the whole library in one order, the ranked list sorts every tool by how often the topic is searched and how checkable the answer is. The calculators index has search and category filters if you already know the name of the tool you want.
