Plain explanations of the three things people usually want to know: what is collected, what is stored locally, and what advertising does.
Why there is so little to collect
Most sites in this field ask for an email address before they show a result. That single step creates a database of names, birth dates and email addresses that then has to be secured, backed up and eventually deleted. We avoided it by not building accounts at all.
Because there is no account, there is no profile accumulating behind the scenes, no password to be leaked and no export request to file. The trade off is that nothing follows you between devices unless you move it yourself with a backup file.
Calculations run in your browser using the same code that is delivered with the page. That is not a privacy promise we ask you to take on trust: a birth date typed into a calculator here does not travel across the network, and you can watch that in your browser's network tools.
Local storage, and what it means for you
Saved readings, report history and library entries use your browser's own storage. It behaves like a note kept inside that browser: the site can read it, other sites cannot, and it is tied to the device and browser you used.
A few consequences follow. A private or incognito window usually discards everything when it closes. A different browser on the same laptop is a different store. Clearing cookies and site data wipes it. Some phones also clear storage for sites you have not visited in a long time.
That is why the history page offers a backup file. Exporting gives you a copy you own, and importing it into another browser rebuilds the same list. We never see the file.
Advertising, cookies and analytics
Advertising pays for the site, which is what allows every calculator, every reading and the full report generator to be available without a payment step. In exchange, advertising partners may set cookies in your browser to help choose which ads to show.
Those cookies are set by the advertising partners rather than by us, and the choice about personalisation sits in your browser and device settings. Turning personalisation off does not remove advertising and does not restrict anything on the site.
We may also use aggregate analytics to see which pages are used and where people give up. That is counting at the level of pages, not people. It does not tell us who you are, and it is not connected to anything you type into a calculator.
No advertiser sees a draft, suggests a topic or gets a mention inside an article. The editorial policy covers how that separation is kept.
Children, security and changes to this page
The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. Since there are no accounts, there is no sign up flow collecting an age, but if you believe a child has posted personal details in the community hub, tell us and we will remove the post.
Security is simpler when there is little to protect. There are no stored birth dates, no password database and no payment records, so the usual targets do not exist. Pages are served over an encrypted connection, and anything you save stays inside your own browser's protections.
If this policy changes, the updated date at the top of the page moves. Material changes will be described in plain language rather than buried in a list of amendments, and the terms of use and disclaimer carry the rest of the legal detail.
