Numbers in scripture
Certain numbers appear so often in the Bible that they carry recognisable associations: seven with completion, forty with testing and preparation, twelve with the tribes and the apostles. These tools surface those associations for a number, a name or a date you are looking at.
The approach here is descriptive. We set out what a number has traditionally been read to mean and where it appears, rather than claiming a hidden code.
Gematria and letter values
Hebrew and Greek both used letters as numerals, so any word in either language carries a numeric value. Gematria tools convert a word or name and show the arithmetic, which is the same mechanic western numerology uses with a different alphabet.
Historical interest is the honest reason to use these. They are not a method of prophecy and we do not present them as one.
