What counts as a core number
Numerology has dozens of derived numbers, but only a handful are treated as core. The life path number comes from your date of birth. The expression number, soul urge number and personality number all come from your full birth name, split by whole name, vowels and consonants. The birthday number is simply the day of the month you arrived.
Everything else in the tradition, from pinnacles to karmic lessons, is derived from those five. That is why they are worth running first and reading slowly, rather than collecting twenty numbers in an afternoon and remembering none of them.
How these calculators work out your number
Date-based tools reduce the month, day and year separately, then add the three results and reduce once more, holding 11, 22 and 33 as master numbers wherever they appear. Name-based tools convert each letter to a value using the Pythagorean grid, with Chaldean values offered as an alternative on the tools that support both systems.
Every tool on this page shows the arithmetic rather than just the answer, so you can check it by hand. If you would rather see the whole set at once, the full numerology chart runs all of them in a single pass.
Reading the result honestly
A core number describes a pattern, not a fate. The useful question is not whether the description is flattering but whether it is recognisable, and the most informative part of any chart is where two numbers disagree with each other.
The written numerology library covers each number in more depth than a result card can, including how the same number reads differently in a life path and an expression.
